I own a 91 740 (non turbo), and was wondering if anyone knows a good airfilter to purchase. I do not want to go and waste my money on a brand name filter if it isn't worth it, so if anyone has had good experiences with a certain type of air filter please let me know. Please let me know of HP increases if any. Thanking you in advance

Go to turbobricks.com and read the article on intake restriction. Very interesting. Their test show almost no pressure drop across the stock filter and shows where the real restrictions are. The rubber elbow from the airbox to the AMM and the intercooler are the worst offenders.

I have a K&N in my 91 744. It does not fit as well as an OEM paper filter. It is a bit small, and required some fiddling to get it to fit right. I thought it might be a defect, so I returned one and ordered another. Same problem. I notice no increase in performance. I made the transition to the K&N before learning of Brickboard. Some Bricksters swear by them, others (myself included) are neither here nor there about them. If I had it to do over, I would have I would have stayed with OEM paper. That being said, I am getting rid of it and going to a cone filter. E-mail me if you want it.

this is governing the condition of air getting to your engine...you REALLY dont wantto compromise here! buy something you have heard of at the very least...

Mann or Bosch are the only two I would trust. I favor the Mann filters myself... both for air and for oil. They make great filters, and I think they are generally the default choice for brickers by and large.

I use a Jetex reusable freeflow air filter in my 760 with great success.
