Here's some sites with some "modern" Volvo engines.

http://volvoadventures.com/122B23Turbo.html
http://www.eurosporttuning.com/est1800e.htm
http://volvoadventures.com/122SB21M41.html

My 122 is the last site. Almost ready to get it on the road. So far, no alterations to the body of the car.

Hope it gives you some ideas.

Paul

BTW, if you want some closer pictures of how it was mounted into the car, email me at: malloy1@prodigy.net

Like CDU said, it will be quite a bit of custom work.

You have a whole wrecked car? I would get a wiring diagram, and swap over everysingle wire from the wrecked car.

My dad has started to fit a B23E into his 69 122S. He is using the B20 oil pan etc etc like CDU said.

He also isn't using K-jet or LH. He is using MegaSquirt programable EFI system with an MSD ignition. That makes wiring beyond simple.

The most difficult part will be making it fit, the mounts will take quite a bit of work. Have a custom exhaust made anyways to match the larger engine.

After he fits the B23E he will be fitting a B21FT

It can be done. You need a modified B20 oil pump,
B20 pan, custom intake, custom exhaust, custom motor
mounts, custom driveshaft, custom throttle linkage.

On a 122 with fuel injection you'll also need a
fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel return line, high
pressure fuel lines after the fuel pump, fuel
pressure regulator, modified fuel tank to have a
fuel return feed. You'll likely also want a surge
tank. If it is a fuel injection system from a 740
or late model 240 you'll also need to add an O2
sensor to the exhaust.

If you want a 122 with modern fuel injection, the
simplest way to do it is to put a B20F with K-jet
fuel injection and a distributor from a 75 240.
K-jet is a fantastic setup -- efficient simple and
reliable and volvo already did all the hard work on
stuff like manifolds and such.
