Headlight upgrades for '91 240 Wagon? 200

I'm wondering if there are any upgrades for these vehicles, my lighting just doesn't seem adequate. Also, what is the easiest way to replace the lights for the dash board... for vent levers, AC switch (which I'm sure should be lit when on), and that entire general area?

Sorry... new to volvo. Is Bentley the way to go for a repair manual?

Thank you.

Will 4 round headlights work on my 85 244? 200

Just wondering, I'm looking for something a little different and they have got alot of good bulbs in that size. Would the turning lights need to be changed too? What about the fenders, hood and grill?

4 round headlights? 200

I suppose you could put 4 rounds on a 1985--my 1980 came with 4 rounds originally and I swapped out for 4 square.

Are you sure you want to go to the rounds? The four squares made my car look, well, about 5 years newer. Maybe the 7" rounds are supposed to put out more light? My experience was, no difference.

Seems to me IPD sells (or did sell until recently, so they should be available somewhere) Cibie high-output sealed-beam units in the square format.

On the 1980 I didn't have to change anything else to swap the headlight units.

Good luck.

I'm thinking I could get one of those GTS style headlight covers in tint. Or in white and have it tented with circle shaped non-tented cutouts, imagine a 750 series BMW look. I also like the idea of being able to add a little tint to the lamp itself {blue green or purple} to give it a little different look. I might not like it when I'm done but I thought for just a little while I'd try it just to make mine a little different.... we all can't just leave well enough alone can we?

I got my upgraded headlights from Alleuro www.alleuro.com they are the same Scantech knockoffs that ipd sells but they were $350 with shipping (~$100 less). I documented the install (with relays) on my pages, you can check out the look and complexity of the job. I think the ipd kit has an adapter to go from the existing headlight harness to the H-4 bulb, nice but in order to protect your car's wiring and get the most out of the lights you really should run relays to power the lights, not that hard and a large improvement in light output in itself.

ipd or Alleuro I highly recommend the switch, massive improvement in lighting.

Yes, you have to get the H4 headlights and turn indicator housings from Europe (Cibie) where they were used from teh early 80's on 240s. The turn lens is bi-color and the headlights really look good on teh 240. Aftermarket H4s like the IPD lights are another great option. Let me know if you want a pic, I have cars with both types.
