92 960 throttle sticking 900

This morning my throttle seemed to stick or to put it another way it was like the cruise was on. I would let off the gas and the car would slowly accelerate to about 65 and stay there but the cruise control was not on and has not been on for some time. We are in a "deep freeze" here on the east, about 3 degree's this morning when I left. Was wondering what would be causing this because it just started when these cold temps moved in. Thanks in advance!

There has been a recall on the early 960s because the screws holding the butter fly plate in the throttle body have loosened and allowed the plate to shift. The shifted plate may cause the throttle to stay open and cause your symptom.

Call you local Volvo dealer and ask them if your VIN was affected by the recall. And if so, was it done?

On a cold (-5F or so) night a few years ago, the throttle stuck on my 240. After "snapping" the throttle pulley once or twice by hand, ice could be heard breaking on the rock guard. It was dark, so no clues as to what exactly had frozen. Have you tried disconnecting the cruise cable to see what happens?
