Service light 200 1993

I've read the posts on the 93 240 service light but I don't get it. I've looked for a "button" on the dash under the fuel gage. I'm not sure I have one. There is kind of a button. There's a round clear plastic object with some sort of sprial or threaded metal through the center. It's on the bottom right of the instrument panel. Maybe it was button? It dose not seem to press down at all? Is this it? Help please I can't stand this blasted light!

90 -93 have a service reset button on the lower right corner of the instrument panel. A protruding hard plastice stem about 14mm long. The center of the stem is hollow. The reset button is inside this stem. Take something like a paper clip, open it up and insert the wire into the stem center. Push inward and if you go easy, you will feel the light reset switch click over and reset.

Sometimes this reset switch fails and you will have to pull the panel out to reset the light and fix the switch. 89's have a manual behind the speedo reset
switch.

That's the one! Use something thin like a coat hanger wire to push that button in the center in. That should reset the light.

My Volvo repair person has always helped me with stuff like that.

I have also found many Volvo repair persons will be happy to help with things like locating a service light switch. They do want you back as a customer, and that is building goodwill.

BTW, in my first post, I said: "They" do want you to be able to turn it off yourself so simply; "they" want you to come in for service!" That should have read: "They" do NOT want you to be able to turn it off yourself so simply; "they" want you to come in for service!" (I could have sworn I caught that error before the 30 minute time limit for revising a post was up!?)

IF your service light switch is the same as my '89, it is BEHIND the general area of the speedometer. Take off the panel under the instrument panel, and feel around up under and around in the area by the speedometer back. Reach up around it and you should feel a small 'switch' that you can move up and down. It seems to me the switch is more toward the left, the drivers side, than the center, not sure. You should be able to find it. It has been many months since I did mine; can't remember which way to flick the switch. If it will click up,then do that and see if the light goes off, otherwise it is down. LOL. Don't "force" it.I am not sure if your '93s switch is positioned the same as mine, but I am sure it is NOT in front by your instrument panel. "They" do want you to be able to turn it off yourself so simply; "they" want you to come in for service! Maybe another BBer can be more explicit!
