Understanding Clutch problem 700 1997

I have to really push the clutch pedal to the floor to change gears. I only have to release a centimeter or less from the floor to engage engine. High up, the pedal feels very light and it also feels that the pedal height has increased too. Had a new clutch put in some 2 years ago and done 25K miles. Have not had a chance to inspect underneath yet but would be grateful for any tips. Thanks in advance.

Sound like a clutch hydraulic failure. Look at the slave cylinder and look for signs of leakage. This will cause your problem as well as a varying catch point. I happen to have a new slave cylinder here if you need one...

Assuming you have one, you should check to see if your clutch cable is in adjustment. If it's hydraulic, check for fluid, leaks, etc. etc. Theres great help for this on the 700/900 FAQ at this board's homepage
