any ideas on this 760 problem? 700 1990

the old bus just stopped dead with no warning. The roadside service guy said that power was going into and out of the coils but was not "pulsing" on his tester unit. He said some module was not functioning--which module?
hope some one can help--we don't have much water left---may have to eat the spare tire.
signed,
stranded

Check FAQ's on no start/stall problems with these cars ( http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/ElectricalIgnition.htm#CarWontStartIgnitionDiagnosis ). Assuming the engine is a B230FT, The pulsing the mechanic may be looking for may be coming from the hall effect sensor on the distributor (or maybe on the flywheel) going to the ignition control module. The FAQ says the cutoff is 89, but I'm not positive if the 760's electronics obey all the rules that apply to the rest of the 740's.
