A/F guage probs(not getting any readings) 700 1991

so i just got in my new A/F guage today and went to hook it up

low and behold nothing ... just 0.00 reading ...

my 02 is a bosch 3 wire sensor .... one black wire from the 02(ground???) connects to the green wire on my car ... then there is a plug w/ two white wires ... w/ the engine off and ignition on i checked the plug that goes to the ECU... wire #1 is 12V and wire #2 reads nothing (so i assume that's the wire that is sending the ECU the signal for the 02 reading no???)

all of this is @ normal running temp .... well i called the tech and he said that its because my 02 doesn't put out enough power for both the ECU and guage ...does that make sense???? he said i need a 2nd 02 ... BAH ... well i still have my old one BUT the 2nd 02 bung in my downpipe is about 2 feet back of the turbo(and other 02) ... if i did try to install it here how different would the A/F ratio read??? biggest thing i have against that is that its gonna be a bitch to try to break the bolt out that's keeping the other bung closed... so well ... anyone have any idea's???

was recommeded i maybe upgrade to a 4 wire 02 ... or buy the 02 from the company that i got the guage from that way if neither work i can get my $ back for thier products being sdgkhasjghadg

hm... so yea .. thanks

    A/F guage probs(not getting any readings) 700 1991

Ive got an autometer A/F guage on my dash....the green wire (or black from the sensor) is the signal to the ECU. The other 2 wires are the O2 heater. I hooked my guage directly to the harness at the computer...I have had no adverse running condidtions, or problems, and you will not harm anything, all the A/F guage is, is really just a volt meter with LED's instead of nubmers. I took the harness connector apart at the computer and solderd a wire directly to the connector for the guage. Dont try to hack into the green wire. That wire has a braided sheild under the green insulation, and under the braid is more insulation around the actual wire that carries the signal. If you want to splice into the wire, you can (should) only do it at the computer side, or the end under the hood. One other thing, I noticed if i unhook the ground from my guage, to power down the guage, the car will not run right, may be a guage problem....otherwise, thats the easiest way to do it. No need to upgrade the sensor or add a second...your just getting redundent.

well i got it working ... easy as hell .. stupid ass company i bought it from didn't even know how to hook it up ...

turns out the black wire i thought was ground isn't ... its the signal to the ECU ... makes sense being that the wire that it connects to is a BIG green wire so eh... so much for black usually being ground

    now for the fun stuff
