Should I Purchase the Wiring Harness from the Dealer and Have it Installed at the Mechanic 200

I am suppose to put my vehicle in the shop this Thursday to have a new wiring harness installed. Should I purchase my new engine wiring harness and deliver it to the mechanics? How can I trust that the mechanic is charging me for a new one?

Ditto on getting it from Dave. No issues whatsoever, and the diagrams he includes helps out greatly.

FWIW, my cousin took care of it on an '85 in about 10 hours, which considering his mechanics skills (he knows how to change the oil) and being the first time for a task that big, is not bad at all. I was there to coach him on a few things (like situations in which a wrench would work better than a ratchet), but other than that, he did all the work. Started right up afterwards ...

The biggest part of it was just believing yourself in doing it.

If you want to spend $300 more than you need to, then yes, buy it from the dealer. There is no problem with buying a used harness from Dave Barton IF it is the updated P/N.

Folks are afraid of purchasing a used harness. But I think what a lot of them dont know is that the harnesses that dave sells are all the updated versions of the original harness. ie. the insulation will never crumble etc. I recently installed a 'new' harness from dave in my car. Although it was dirty and all, all of the connectors were in excellent shape and the wires/insulation looked fantastic.
