1990 760 GLE HOOD SPRING PROBLEMS, PLEASE HELP!!!!!! 700

Greetings:

Does anyone know how I can get my hood open? I am having a problem with my # Volvo, its a 1990 760 GLE. It seems that it gets stuck on the ends (spring connections). The latch itself seems to be ok, but upon pulling the interior latch and having someone pull up on the hood, it just does not seem to work. Sometimes the hood will partially left up on one corner but the other side gets stuck. I have luricated my 2 other Volvos (1988 740 wagons)with white lithium grease, and I have not had any issues. I just need to open this hood! There is no damage whatsoever (mint condition interior/exterior). Please help!

Thanks in Advance.

It could either be a broken release wire, or stretched release wire. Try the following:
Take off the plastic trimmings that go between the bumper and the engine undertray. You need to reach up in between the grille and the radiator, just above the fan (if fitted). In that area is the linking wire between the two hood catches. A firm pull should release the catch. If the wire is not there, try fishing around the area for the broken end to pull.

Sounds like a broken cable. The release cable runs from the inside, along the fender area, over the headlights and to the latch. Another one goes to the other latch. You might try some lubrication. They do break, but mine are still original.

The hood release cable on your 1986 744T might be original, but it doesn[t count since you don't drive it anymore. Or, do you?

Hello again! Does anyone know where the fuel filter is on the 1990 760 GLE'S? Is it on the top or is it underneath the vehicle like the 740's? Also, how much of a difficult task should one expect to have?

Best Regards!

The fuel filter is in the same place as the 740s and is essentially the same task...

Good luck!
