TO THOSE WHO HELP A THANK YOU NOTE FROM GUTLESS

THIS MESSAGE WAS POTED AND I GOT A FEW REPLY WICH LET TO THE REPAIR THANK YOU FOR THE HELP.

Hello all!
Looking for some help.
Just picked up the car from the mechanic and I was told that they can't find the problem.
When the car is cold it is absolutely gutless. No exceleration. To start the car you have to bury your foot. After running for a period of time though, it starts to recover its power.
I have checked for vaccuum leaks, exhaust was checked it is free flowing, fuel pressure is 34 p.s.i..

Any suggestions as to the problem or what to check next would be greatly appreciated.

JUST CAME BACK FROM ANOTHER MECHANIC. THIS ONE SAYS THAT THE TIMING BELT NEEDS CHANGING. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT WOULD DO IT ? AND CAN SOME OF AVERAGE MECHANICAL SKILLS DO THE (BELT CHANGE), ANY WHERE THAT WOULD SHOW ME HOW TO CHANGE IT , WEBSITE OR ??? i ALSO CHANGED THE PLUGS TO NEW PLATINUM PLUGS(THEY WERE CLEAN , NO GAS OR OIL ON THEM)

Timing belts are usually good or dead. Not failing slowly. Your problem could be a timing belt that has jumped a tooth, a very rare experience on the BBRD and never in mine.

Not knowing which model and year Volvo you have, this must be considered a SWAG. If the engine performance changes as it heats, there's a chance that the emgine temp sender to the ECU has failed.

More posters will have more ideas than mine.

Good Luck,

Bob
