I have a set of 15 inch alloy rims that came off a '85 740 and want to put them on my '84 245. They seem to fit, I was just wondering if they "really" are suppossed to.

I have 15x6 inch 740 turbo wheels on my '92 245... shod with 205/60-15 Yokohama Avid T4's. No fitment problems whatsoever.

Most 240 and 740 rims are interchangeable, because the bolt pattern is the same. However, watch for the "ABS Mismatch". Wheels from a later-model 240 or 740 equipped with ABS brakes might not fit earlier series 240s without ABS. But rims from the years/models you have, should swap out perfectly.

Wheels from an ABS car will fit on a non-ABS car.

Wheels from a non-ABS car will not *likely* fit an ABS car.

I've been looking for some 700 series 5-spoke rims to put on my 1992 w/ABS. Never thought about caliper conflicts. Does anyone know which rims will fit on the ABS cars?

There must have been a dealer option at the time. Was it the type that looks just about the same as the standard wheel covers? (Hope not--I sure would rather have the 5-spokes...)

Hey--seems to me the 700s had ABS in 1988 and again in 1990 forward. Shouldn't the 5-spoke wheels work?

As far as I know, the only wheels with the clearance issue are the 240 Turbo "Virgos". They have a very thick inner rim. The 740's 5-spoke "Draco" design will clear no problem. Any of the 940 wheel options will fit as well as 15" steel wheels and the 16" Hydras.
Some other early 740 15" designs may have clearance issues- haven't tried every combination. Any wheel from an 89 or newer car should fit without clearance issues.
And either way, all the wheel options fit fine on any 240, ABS or not.

There are no issues putting any rwd rims on any 240. Everything fits a 240. The FWD rims fit as well, but need spacers to achieve the right offset. The bolt pattern is right. You can use any 740, 760, 780, 940 and early 960 wheels on a 240. The late 960 takes wheels with a different offset.

Should not be a problem. I have been led to believe that 740 and 240 rims interchange, 850's do not.

They should be Ok. Check to see if the brake rotors and calipers fit inside the rim too.
