Oil Pressure Sender and Idiot Light Question 200 1985

I finally got my plumbing peices and some electrical connectors so I can install my Oil Pressure gauge. I have a few questions before I dig in. Do I have to take the grommet out (on the firewall) or partially out to feed the wire through? Also, the wire for the idiot light, does the color of it stay the same all the way back to the grey block on the firewall or does it change in the middle? I plan to replace that wire, I know that all of the wires coming out of that gray connector are not doing well. Any tips or tricks you guys have would be appreciated.

Oil Pressure Sender and Idiot Light Question 200 1985

The wire to the oil pressure sensor is black all the way to the gray connector, there are no junctions en route. You can open the gray connector and remove that black wire, or tape it off down by the sensor.

But why disconnect it? Does the plumbing you are installing replace the sensor, or can you put in a tee and use both? Belt and suspenders!

Regards,

Bob

Oil Pressure Sender and Idiot Light Question 200 1985

I am replacing the wire because its insulation is crumbling. I am keeping the idiot light, I have the VDO 5 bar sender w/ 2 terminals. Thanks.
