Code 2-3-1; Rich/lean misture compensation at cruise 200 1989

I recently noted the code 2-3-1 on my car, 1989 240 DL B230F sedan (LH3.1 or 2.4?)

Haven;t checked it for five months. Before it was always 1-1-1 (no problem).

Recent changes I made are fuel pressure regulator (bosch fcp groton) and in-tank assembly (VDO fcp groton).

Can the fpr be defective?

the obvious answer is YES, of course it COULD be faulty..but it is doubtful. My suggestion would be to check/adjust the:

idle speed setting (throttle position)
throttle position switch
throttle cable

as the old diaphram of the FPR got less accurate and less responsive, idle speed may have changed; to compensate, someone may have altered one of the above. Now that you have a new FPR, I think it would be wise to "readjust" to spec the entire fuel delivery system..

just my .02

It maybe an old code, try to reset it. It should be an lh2.4. Has it been running rich? You could have installed the wrong fpr, but you would notice the richness and the increased gas mileage.

Actually I did try resetting it. Ir reset to 1-1-1 and it came back the next day when I re-checked.

I am assuming the fpr is the correct one, are there different ones that look the same? It's a Bosch I bought from fcp groton.
