The buzzer that reminds you to shut off the headlights doesnt work anymore.......Where is it located and what might be wrong?

Headlight warning buzzer is located 200 1983

above the driver's left foot, or maybe the driver's right foot. Diagram isn't clear. Only two wires going into it: GR and W-SB (remember SB is black).

Finding it and messing with it is harder than doing the checking from the other answers.

Good Luck,

Bob

:>)

PS: Beginning in 1986 the chime is only keys-in. There is an additional relay in the headlight circuit that cuts them off when the key is off. I leave mine on almost all the time. Does not, however, cut off the parking lights. DAMHIK

I believe that system can be fitted into a pre-1986 car.

Thanks all, I'll check it out in the morning. It's WAY too cold outside, like 45 degrees F. LOL, Mark

If it has also failed to let you know you left your keys in the ignition switch, the trouble is probably a dirty fuse #4. You're talking about the chime, right?

when our 83 has that problem it's usually the button/switch in the front edge of the door opening "losing" its ground. Try unscrewing the screw that holds the switch in place and clean any corrosion. Oh, and if it's only failing when really cold, the old rubber cover is getting too stiff to let the switch extend . . .

Hope this helps,

Steve A-

There was a buzzer in my 240-82 when I got it. It worked only when opening the left front door with ignition key left in place.

I added a wire somewhere and now it indicates both, ignition key and headlights on. It is also now a chime; found the right blue gizmo at the bone yard.

Makes me feel in a car 10 years younger...

with very little investment.
