Love my brick...curiosity factor...MVP throttle body??? 200

Hey all,
Out from left field...has anyone had experience with a MVP throttle body or a similar mod? I'm having a phase I cam, new header and 2.5" complete exhaust installed in the next couple of weeks and found some posts in the archives that a modified throttle body can also add HP with the addition of a new cam, header, and exhaust. I'm not looking to buy it, but I'm curious nevertheless. I bet with the price to pay, the HP increase is really small especially on a NA automatic brick! OR is this upgrade really for only a turbo model??
Oh yeah, as a recent college grad (this past May) who is living back at home :( for the time being trying to save some flow, the 'rents think I'm nuts with the talk of spending money and all these upgrades...perhaps a little, but I love my brick!!

Many thanks as always,
-Adam

From what I've heard, you should pick up quite a bit from that cam and your exhaust changes. I don't think the throttle body will do much if anything for you, and you'd be much better off spending the money on something else, like a nice ignition box or something. Or maybe shave your head to gain compression, and do a little port work while you are in there.

Hey, I notice that you are from Newbury. Would you like to be emailed if we have some kind of get-togethers in the New England area? Jason (shovelfxr) is also from the region.

Adam, shovelfxr is correct. You need to modify the head first to utilize the extra flow or get a turbo motor. I modded a Datsun head about six years ago and am just now adding a larger tb port matched to the intake. The head mods will give you more bang for the buck outright. The tb helps with additional flow for better throttle response. Save the money for the head work - you've already got the cam and header coming so your half way there for a decent na motor.

i'm guessing, but i imagine without serious head mods, the TB is unnecessary
