960 Headlight Short 900 1995

The other day the headlights on my dad's 1995 964 went out. No warning, just dead. He pulled over, checked the fuse saw that it was thoroughly toasted and replaced it. This fuse subsequently met a similar fate as its brother. So where would we start looking for a short? The high beams DO work, the fog lights and parking lights don't. Unfortunately, we don't have a wiring diagram for this car. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'd check the wiring at the head lamp end just because it is easy to do as the first thing.

A possibility is that on rare occasions a lamp will short when it blows. You might just try pulling the plugs off the low beams to see if the fuse will then survive.

Next suspect would be the headlight switch itself.

    Hope this helps.
