My 240GLE leaves about a litre of water on the garage floor after returning from a trip in the summer heat.I guess this incontinent behaviour must be due to icing-up in the a/c unit.I'd be very grateful for any help with cause and remedy .

In my last house, I had a cut down plastic bucket sitting under the drain. Would hold about 4 litres, I guess, and had to empty it regularly. You could install a bilge pump, I guess to empty it automatically, if you were ingenius - I considered an old windscreen washer pump, but never got around to it.

Yep It's condensation, The alternatives are, Plug the drain,(this should be easy it happens to alot of volvo's) the result will be "about a liter of water" on the passenger side floor board, Be advised this is very hard on carpet and will affect interior air quality adversly...(insert your own nasty smell)... and will cause the floorboards to rust very quickly...Then the water will drain out leaving a puddle on the garage floor.
The only other soulution is to not run the a/c.
sorry bout the sarcasim. but I have just been contemplating the fact that I'm going to have to go completely through my a/c before hot weather...$$$, yours is working fine,

Cause is condensation on the evaporator fins, humidity in the air being removed. The water drips down into the bottom of the air box and thence to a drain pipe which runs out the floor above the trans housing. Thence to the ground. Sounds like your system is working fine.

If the water is NOT there after an a/c drive in summer heat, then you DO have a problem.

Thats just condensation from the evaporator draining out. It's normal, nothing to fix there.
