740 auto-tranny shifter linkage joints 700 1991

Father-in-law's 740 sedan B230F, 1991.

He has had major play in his shifter (automatic). All works well.
I understand that this issue usually is the linkage washers from the shifter to the tranny, accessible from under the car.

I went to the dealer and asked to get them. Without looking through parts computer he went to the back and brought me two white cylindrical little washer-like thingys with black rubber fittings over them... for two links.
They were cheap, I bought them.

Before getting under the car:

Can I assume he gave me the right parts? Are all these cars/trannys generally using the same linkage joints?

Thanks,
Greg Mustang, Montreal Canada

greg there probly the same ones, you gave him the year of the car and he could tell then it was an AW tranyn under there, either wat though i think the holes on the ZF and AW for the linkage is the same, they should just pop right into the holes, of course you will need to remove the linkage before attempting to install.

I believe volvo used the same Gear shifter assembly ( aside from maybe the looks of the button ) on the 700 series from 1985 to 1992.
