CIBIE WHAT is the alternative? 200

what is the alternative to the "fogging" Up Cibe lights?
why did Volvo not install them pre fogged (yellowish) and filled with water?
I have drilled weep holes in my last 3 cars lights, and this seems silly due to the fact that the PH of the water starts to break down the reflective coating regardless

Replacement lenses (about $45 per side according to volvoworld.com) which will not solve the reflectiveness problem

Replacement US headlights (about $100 per side) which will be nice for a while and then degrade the same way; for it is a design flaw (what genius ever decided to go for plastic lenses or why, I don't know).

Euro conversion (about $350 for both sides including shipping, http://www.buvic.com/car/forsale/lights/240-f81.html , comes with new euro corner units as well) - solves the problem by getting you proper glass lenses. Also really upgrades and cleans up the look of the vehicle.

You would be surprised what a little oven cleaner will do for those yellow lights. Apply it to a rag or remove the headlight and spray it in the sink. Don't get oven cleaner on your paint! The yellow is on the outside- it will come off in a sheet. A fine polish will help afterward.
OTOH I've seen these things as cheap as $49.99 now on Ebay so you may just want to get new ones.... they're ridiculously expensive from Volvo.

Euro glass lens maybe, i'm sure some one on the board knows how to get them.
Good luck.
