Pre-pump wires broken 200

The pre-pump wires are broken on the top. Can they be repaired or is it better to replace? If repairable, how do I do it so that it is safe after the repair? (fixing it out of the tank of course)

Best repair is to get a new prepump harness from the dealer. Simple solder job.

Solder the wires and use heat shrink tubing to insulate. First I would soak the tubing in some gas for a while to make sure it is compatible. I know the stuff I have is.

What about the hole in the top of the sending unit where the wires exit? Did you replace the gromet, or did your use something else, so that there is no longer a hole?

I had that problem with my "83" sedan. Took me 6 months to diagnose. Replaced the main pump 3 times before I thought to check the intank pump. But that's besides the point. You shouldnt have to replace anything at all. Just splice the two ends together as david said and it should work fine. Thats what I did to mine and it's still going strong.
