Aftermarket Sunroofs 900 1994

Hello, I have a 94 954t without a sunroof. I like sunroofs so much and would like to get one installed. I will only buy one that operates as factory, that can tilt up or slide back, under the headliner, it dosen't have to be power though.

I live in North Attleboro MA, about 30 miles from Boston, does anyone know of any shops they would recommend or where I should turn to for advice?

If no one knows of any then I'd like to know what to expect for a price.

Thanks a lot, Andrew Woods

Just an idea but if they are going to cut open his roof, could he not get a Volvo sunroof from a scrapper, sunroof headliner and have them install that?

I'm with you 100%. There is something about having a sunroof. My last car purchase was centered around that factor as the #1 must-have.

If you're looking for a good installation, it will be somewhere around a thousand. Maybe a little less than a thousand, and maybe a little more than a thousand. Maybe a lot more than a thou. In fact, I remember one of my dad's cars costing $1200 in the mid 90s.

Two good manufacturers are webasto and ASC. I can verify firsthand that the ASC installation (when done right) is fantastic. Expensive, but nice things cost a lot of money--no surprise there. No leaks, no wind noise, no nothing. This was a sliding/tilting glass roof installation. I think that ASC and webasto both license their operations, so you'll get connected with a local auto trim & upholstery shop or that type of place.

Both websites have search features that locate nearby dealers. I did a quick one and there are a bunch of ASC shops in MA, closest maybe would be Brockton. Webasto licenses a place in Pawtucket, Seekonk, and a list of others. The Webasto site lists by distance, and there was a big list.

Good luck!

Wow, this is an undertaking. A friend did this back in the mid-eighties to a Honda he had. It was a steel sliding roof and it cost about a grand then! I wasn't iiimpressed with the results either. I don't know what it would cost today, but make sure to see their work on a couple of cars, especially if you can see another Volvo. Unless you really love *that* car, it seems like a chance to get a different car with a SR.

Good luck.
