I'm in the market to buy an 1800 and want to spend up to $7k. I'm not especially concerned with the year, as long as it's RUST FREE. If any of you have any leads, email me off list at andrew_j_s_b@yahoo.com

I would STRONGLY suggest a late model because they have all the things
you want - high performance engine, dual path 4-wheel disk brakes,
etc. If you want a coupe, look for a 71, or a sportwagon,
72-73.

George,

Why do you like the 71 coupe over a 70 or 72??? Just curious..

Very few, if any, of the 70s have fuel injection, and even if you use
carbs the E engine is better than the B or F.
(of the two I'd choose the F over the B because it has bigger valves.
I'd probably supply whatever cam I wanted.)

I like the '70 models more than the 71 or 72 because (subtle difference) they have the neater looking old style door panels, not the 140 series armrests on flat panels the 71 shared with the ES. Also, the 71-on coupe has the bulky clunky latching rear seat needed in the wagon but not in the coupe. The '71 does have intertial retracting front seatbelts, however they are housed in big pods that prevent the front seats from fully reclining.

Actually, all the '70s had fuel injection.

'61-'68 P1800/1800S = B18B, 100-108-115 HP, dual SU carbs
'69 1800S = B20B, 118 HP, most have dual Stromberg carbs
'70-'71 1800E = B20E, 130 HP, D-jet EFI
'72 1800E = B20F, 112 HP, D-jet EFI
'72-'73 1800ES = B20F, 112 HP, D-jet EFI

OK, I have 1970 1800E FI model, it has M410 that I think is pretty rare as I just found when I ordered the wrong transmission mount.. Tried to put 164 mount but car had a moulded braket type mount and not the though stud type. Was able to use the bracket and drill to use the 164 type mount with the through bolt. Should be easier and cheaper to change. 164 mount $17, 1800 M410 is $50. ?? Car is #184451032285. Thanks.
