Where should the water be draining that's coming through the airvent plug? 700 1988

Still working with the water leak in the driver's footwell. I have the replacement plug and seal and am about to use a hole saw to help remove the old plug.

Questions are, should water be getting into this plugged airduct? If not, could it be the drain for the A/C evaporator plenum is clogged? Where is it? Seems the plugged duct is the low point in the ventilation system. I'm going out at lunchtime with a battery powered drill and holesaw. Maybe I'll find a drain behind the plug that's clogged?

Help please.

The answer is; a rocker panel drain hole (or so it appears). I got the plug out and there isn't any plastic plenum, it's just the space between the inner and outer fender. All that's in there is the sunroof drain pipe coming from the A pillar. It extends past the hole to the rockerpanel. So it looks like the water directed down the cowl into this space is supposed to drain through the rocker panel also but the rubber gasket on the plug is letting it into the footwell.

Hope this information helps someone besides me.

Mine was doing that too. I sealed around the plug with clear RTV, and that fixed the problem. I would like to get the vent that fits in the hole. Apparently, these were only installed on cars without A/C, and those cars only exist overseas.
