Scan tech hood release cable 200

Has anyone successfully replaced their original Volvo hood cable assembly with a Volvo OEM part? I ordered and tried to install a Scan Tech part but finally gave up and sent the thing back as the piece that is supposed to snap into the firewall and house the pull handle wouldn't snap/stay in. The parts house that sold me the Scan Tech admitted several people have had the same problem and supposedly Scan tech is addressing the issue. I was thinking about buying a Volvo OEM part but wonder if I will run into the same problem.

In the meantime, I oiled up my old Volvo assembly per Don. Foster's instructions and reinstalled it. If only I could get it to snap back in to the firewall I wouldn't need to buy another. I wished I would have found out about Don Foster's method before I started this mess.

Volvo provides you with the inner star washer/grommet that locks the cable to the firewall hole. I've bought and installed Volvo supplied cables and they
included this necessary part. I also posted about this recently. I was very irritated at Scan-Tech and wrote them about this. They blew me off completely. I had bought two hood cables from them and both are missing the locking washer/grommet. Now you are officially a member of the torqued by
Scan-Tech club.

I received wrong size wheel bearings in a correctly marked box. A heater valve
that leaked after 2 months. And, of course the hood cables without the
necessary locking washer.
