Anyone flat tow a Volvo 740? (all wheel down behind a motorhome

Does anyone have any experience flat towing a Volvo 700 series? The manual says it shouldn't be done. I'm wondering if anyone has done an axle disconnect or tranmission pump installation that has worked for them.

While it wouldn't be terribly hard to remove or disconnect the driveshaft, there really isn't any other proper way to flat tow an automatic car for any significant distance. Transmission damage will result, though I do have to admit I've never seen it firsthand, just heard the stories.
Why not get a tow dolly and tow it backwards with the front wheels on the ground?
