The local volvo dealer doesn't seem to know how many cables need to be replaced to repair my seats that won't recline-PLEASE help as it may cost hundreds!! Which cable should be replaced or trimmed? WHERE ARE SCHEMATICS OF THIS CAR??? Please help! I don't want to get charged for parts that don't need replacement, but don't know how to tell and the dealer seems confused by this car.

dealers are stupid as i live in fl the volvo dealer where i live is sad you could take it to a custom shop or a custom seat shop and get help i stay away from dealers there here for money not help

If the dealer does'nt know how many cables are involved, perhaps you should look for another dealer. There are 2 drive cables for the recline function. Best to replace both, as they are the same age.

I have the wiring diagrams (green book) for 1990 780 and could scan & e-mail you the 2 pages that cover power seats if you like. 1990 has the electric forward and return when seat is pulled for back seat entry. Other than that it should be similar to 1987.

Are we talking the cable that runs from motor to gear inside the seat? In that case, you have two, one for each side, replace the faulty one or both if you feel so inclined. I spent the best of a day fixing my seat which would not recline on the right hand side only to have the left hand side brake down once I fixed it.
