Which 240 rear calipers... 140-160 1968

If I'm going to use 240 calipers on the rear, which model should I use? Would any of them work from any year? If I put ATE 164 calipers on front, I would want to put 240 ATE calipers on the rear. Does this cause any problems?

I did some looking into upgraded brakes for my 164. It's a
1970 and has the solid front rotors.

After looking around, I came to the following conclusion:

The rotors on all the 140/240 cars are roughly the same size.

The vented front rotor 164 brakes have a smaller pad than the
solids.

The turbo 240 front brake setup may work with a vented 164 rotor
with some filing but you'll need custom hoses (hard and flex lines)
to make it work. The turbo 240 front brakes have pads that are
about the same size as the solid 140 pads (ie larger than the vented
pads on the 164)

I finally concluded that since you can get new pads and rotors
for pretty darned cheap and the car I've got stops damned well to
start with (I think the brakes are working pretty much correctly)
I shouldn't bother.

If your car isn't stopping as it should, I'd use original equipment
parts to repair obvious problems and *then* see if all is not up
to snuff. With my car and it's 50,000 mile old tires I can launch
people through the front window at will if they're not belted in...

Ther really is not any difference. 140's might even be cheaper. 140-160 1968

The bolt hole spacing is different. This is pointless IMHO, the calipers are essentially identical, but not interchangeable because of the different spacing of the mounts. ATE and Girling are interchangeable. Personally I prefer ATE because they're less prone to seizing, I don't think I could tell the difference between them by driving the car.
