oil breather box 900 1994

What is the best way to get to and check the oil breather box and flame trap on a 94' 940T wagon? I know it is somewhere under the fuel rail but I am having a hard time tracking down. I am exhibiting what I think is backed up crankcase pressure, ie. oil coimg out of oil filler cap when the engine is run on interstate. I don't drive the car alot these days due to close vicinity to work, but want to make sure she is running well for weekend trips. I also have leaking oil return line that is bathing my undercarriage any suggestions besides the obvious. Just installed a new exhaust front resonator back and it is already coated with oil.

Once you see the pictures on that page, it will all make sense. But also read the crankcase ventilation section of the FAQ completely, because there's a couple simple things that can cause excess pressure. In mine ('93 945T) the small vacuume line from the y-fitting to the manifold was plugged solid (including the fittings on both ends)

Removal is made easier with idle air control and throttle body removed. These when clean make a big improvement to running. Not a difficult task.

Cleaning the oil breather box is effective and not at all difficult. Use an oil solvent...petrol/gas etc will do the job. Block the outlets and shake vigorously.

Spend the $30 you save on a slab of Fosters beer and help the Aussie economy.

Moles,
You have a serious underbody leak which I'll leave to someone else to address!
I think I can be of some help though. I ('93 960) had leaks coming from oil filler cap and dipstick. Both were cured by rubber gasket replacement on each part.
Flame trap cleaning is described in FAQs and the Chilton manual. I don't think you have to service the oil breather box.

i would disagree, change the box...its not a bad job and worth it for the piece of mind...they cost about $30..which has GOT to be cheap...

basically look under the rail and its a big black palstic box bolted to the engine...(under the manafold..at the back..)

I am pretty sure I don't have an engine seal leak as I am not dropping alot of oil when parked.

well i was loosing 1/2 ltr per 100 miles from a turbo return seal - and no drips when parked...

i would get the underside/engine bay washed off well then drive a couple of miles and get under and have a good look...bet u can spot it..

oh, of course watch out for hot bits and NEVER get under an unsupported car etc etc etc...
