Who got wheels 200 1989

Now that every thing is fixed and running great(for the time being)I NEED a set of wheels. I'd like to find a set of the turbine looking wheels(I don't know what the proper name is)but would settle for a set of the spoke ones. Whose got a set foe sale? Don't forget, I drive a Volvo-that means "frugal"!

The wheels you want... 200 1989

I think are the 16" Dracos from the later 740 turbos. They do look awesome on almost any volvo. here are some pics... http://images.cardomain.com/member_img_a/132000-132999/132073_34.jpg

This may sound strange... but I actually like the hubcaps found on '89-'93, granted only if they are clean and have the center caps (where applicable).

I'd love to upgrade to some Virgos, but my tires are fairly new. I wouldn't mind finding and picking up a set of (forget the names), but the rims found on the 240 SE's and the '93 classics.

minimac,

Where are you at? I have a set of the Coronas I saved from an 85 245GL my bro-in-law parted when I built my 83 Turbo. They're structurally sound, need stripping and refinishing, but if you were close and wanted to come get them you could have them...

If what you mean by "turbines" as the hard-to-clean 14", 25-spoke wheels that were common on GL's, then those are the "Corona" style.

Downright the most common alloy available for 240's, and can be had for pretty cheap, as most of their value is not in the rim but the hubcap.

Well, ok, it's not that bad, but it almost seems that way. FWIW, the 14" Dersus wheels on the mid-80's 7-series with the giant platter-size caps are prolly the most worthless when the caps are gone, as they become totally butt-ugly at that point.

The wheels ARKIE has are nice, but I really am still looking for the turbos- the finned ones.I don't care if they are 14" or 15"-even a set of MSW or BBS basketweaves would be good.Who has some for sale? C'mon guys, clean out the storage sheds and garages!

I have two sets of the 25 spoke (finned) 14 inch GL wheels. One set is refinished, one is not. No lug nuts, but I have the large caps. I am in Canada though, so I don't know about shipping to you. I can send some photos. Email at kenttworld@hotmail.com.

I run Coronas on my 86 245, but I have the small caps that cover the center hole, and I only have two of those. I would like a set of the large caps like you have for my Coronas - you wouldn't happen to have a spare set of those caps would you?

There is a set of great looking MSW's on eBay, howvere, they are in Hawaii....shipping's probably more than what they will sell for. I am keeping a look out for turbo rims. Being a classic car, I don't want the rims to be too showy. If I don't find a set by the end of this year, I am ordering some new ones from Tirerack. they only have 2-3 choices for the 240 :-)

Cheers

I have a set of Virgo (turbo) rims on my '80 GT - $200 for the set with tires that have about 20-30% tread. Lugnuts and centercaps included. Heck - I'll even throw in the rest of the car for free with purchase of the wheels if you'll come after it! Here is a picture of one of the rims - uncleaned in natural state. They look good - one has very minor curb rash another has a ding on one of spokes that isn't too awful noticeable. The coating on them looks good.

I would rather get the stock ones....the Virgos or the Turbos. I've seen some others and with some adapters could use almost anything, but I like the 'classic' stock look.

I stepped out of the house for a few hours, but I will be around the house most of the weekend. I have to change the timing belt on my 245. Anyone interested in the wheels can reach me at lancew@midsouth.rr.com for the weekend. The address on my profile is my work address, and I won't be able to check it til Monday. If anyone is interested in the car, I am in Marion, Arkansas about 10 miles from Memphis, Tennessee.
