Throttle switch question 900 1995

940 Non-Turbo LH 2.4 Bosch FI

I've been reading the threads for the correct way to set the TPS. I am now confused because I came across several variations;

1. First Turn Clockwise, then anti-clockwise until a click is heard and then continue turning until the switch cannot turn anymore.

2. First turn clockwise, then anti clockwise until a click is heard and stop here.

3. Turn clockwise past the click sound and then continue until it stops.

Mine is a LH 2.4 Bosch FI. Can someone tell me which is the correct manner for my car, 1, 2, or 3?

Also, is it a must that a click is heard on opening of the throttle and a click is also heard on closing of the throttle from an opened position?

So far I've only been able to get the click when opening the throttle but not on closing. Is this a sign that the switch is faulty?

Thanks for the advice.

number 2 is the correct way ,otherwise you force the switch against the closed throttle and could damage it. you should hear a distinct click for both opening and closing the throttle, otherwise the idle motor will not engage and could cause stalling on quick stops.

Thanks for the information. I'll try to get a fix to get a click for both opening and closing.
