My 740 start fine, but after about 30 seconds idles rough and wants to stall when letting up on gas. After another minute or two of driving it's fine.

Any ideas? Sticking idle control?

I would definitely try cleaning the idle controller. It might be sticky and cleaning it can only help to eliminate one of the potential causes for the rough idle. (what about the distributor, Plugs and wires? are they ok?)

I recently replace distributor (hall effect and all), but have not replaced wires and plugs. That has been on my to do list. I'll give the idle control a cleaning along with throttle body.
