service light 700

Recently I have been having an issue with the service light on my '90 740GL. When I first start my brick the light turns on. After a couple of minutes of driving it turns off. When lit if I push the reset button it does not turn off. The car doesn't exhibit any other symptoms so I don't know where to start. This is a new phenomenon for me so I was hoping that someone had an idea of what might be causing this.

Thanks,
Dave

Are you pushing the button in far enough? It's not a simple poke. It's more like a stab. The button actually has to go in about 1/2". Don't be afraid to push it a tiny bit harder. But if you push it REALLY hard you might break it... so I take it back. Be afraid a tiny bit. :)

What invar said plus, the service light indicates elapsed mileage, nothing more. Turbos come on at 5K intervals, non turbos 10K. No other function other than to remind you to perform scheduled service.

service light !!! ALL FIXED!!! 700

You were both right about the button. I was a little more forceful this time and it went out like a light (sorry, I couldn't help the pun.)

Thanks for the responses!!

Dave
