You posted similar messages on Sunday. Did you read ALL the responses? Please give details, and be consistent.
- previously, you said the engine WOULD start, but you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal to keep it running. Now, are you saying that it will not start at all, even holding the accelerator pedal down?
- on Suday, you said the car runs slightly better WITH the AMM plugged, and worse when it is unplugged. (NOTE: do not unplug the AMM while the car is running!!! Shut the engine off first!) Is this still true?
- one suggestion was to check the Idle Air Control unit. Did you clean it?
Here is one of the replies from your Sunday post:

On the 1990 240, idle speed is regulated by the Idle Air Control (IAC) unit. If the IAC is clogged up with grease/oil/engine blow-by, it will cause similar symptoms. My suggestion would be to make sure the IAC is clean, first.
When your engine is at idle, with no foot on the accelerator, the Throttle Body (TB) plate is closed. To reach the engine, air bypasses the TB by going through a hose to the IAC unit, then through another hose up to the intake manifold. Then engine computer monitors and controls the IAC unit, causing a little "door" to open/close inside, just fast enough to keep a steady idle speed. When you depress the accerlerator, the TB plate opens. This allows more air to flow straight through to the intake manifold instead of being routed through the IAC.
From your description, it sounds as if the IAC unit is malfunctioning (hopefully just full of "gunk"), or one of its vacuum hose may be clogged, keeping the computer from maintaining idle speed. Therefore, you must press the accelerator pedal to allow air to get in thru the TB. So clean the IAC before doing anything else. You need a small screwdriver to remove it, and a bottle of carb spray cleaner. (I think yours is a sealed unit like mine, so you cannot disassemble it.) I would also replace the Flame Trap, clean the Throttle Body, and make the Throttle Position Switch is set correctly. There are detailed instructions in the 700/900 FAQ on these procedures.
IAC UNIT LOCATION: follow the plastic air hose from the AMM to the engine. Just before reaching the throttle body, there are two smaller hoses. One goes over/around the intake manifold to the plastic Flame Trap holder. The other hose goes under the intake manifold to the IAC unit. It is a small silver/gray cylinder 6-inches long(?), attached to two hoses at one end and an electrical connector on the other end.

We may just have a misunderstanding of terms. Please provide all your troubleshooting steps taken so far. Usually, the more details you give, the more helpful the responses... And get a repair manual! It will pay for itself the first time you use it!
