Are Bertone's fundementally different (buying advice) 700

I'm looking to buy an '89 780 Bertone and I'm wondering other whether, than exterior and interior differences, was anything fundementally changed that would affect reliability. Also what are the "lovable quirks" 700's that I should look out for? I'm a 240 owner so I'm a little out of my league. Thanks in advance.

Ben

No, they are mechanically a 700 all the way. Very reliable in the B230FT version. Just don't get one that needs exterior lights yet or the rare body parts.

Ben -

The 780 Bertone has been described as a true driver's car, regardless of which engine. Made from 1986 to 1991, it had the B280F or the B230FT. The B280F V6 is the third iteration of a Volvo V6. The first, B27, was fraught with disaster; the next, B28, was better. I am given to understand that the B280 has all the bugs cleared out, and is a dandy engine.

Look here for more info:

Many parts are unique to the car, so that may require more expense than with the ubiquitous 240s.

Good Luck,

Bob
