failure of keyfob after battery disconnect 900

Hi from the Isle of Man in the British Isles (Not UK!!!)

Volvo 940 diesel estate 1995, I changed battery and forgot to keep a sleeper on it. Now the remote fob, Volvoguard, grey, single button, doesn't lock or unlock the doors. Everything else works fine, inc. key operating the doors. The 'triangle' on the window post is winking and the diode in the fob lights when the button is pressed.

The last time this happened(OK so I'm a dork).I pressed the button five times, waited 60 secs and it all worked ok, but not this time. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Bryan Denham.

Thanks everyone. NO, its not in the manual. NO the maindealer is most unhelpful with free advice. Yes, I did something right 'cos it works again but only it seems after a 24 hr delay!!!.

Thanks anyway. love ya'all. Bryan D.

I think you have the procedure wrong. Afterall if that worked we could go around programming everybodies Volvos to open with our own key fob.

Try this:
Sit in car with all doors closed. Turn key on/off 5 times, on the 5th leave key on. Push transmitter button within 10 seconds. That is the procedure for my 97 V90.

Back to the dealer so it can be reprogrammed. I went through this with my s70. What a pain in the a__!

I sincerely hope that the dealer just walked out to the parking lot and showed you how to do it. The procedure is most likely in your owners manual. This is not a pain at all.
