where to source original wires in length? 200 1981

I was cleaning and fixing up various stuff last night and found that there was crumbling insulation on the wires to the corner light. Can this portion of the harness be rebuilt, or is it better to just source one new? If it can be rebuilt, where is the best source for proper wires and the connectors needed?

I just built a new engine wiring harness for an old 75 Mercedes I have and ordered the wire from WayTek (waytekwire.com). On 100' spools it was less than 3 cents/foot for 18 ga automotive grade wire. I used 18 ga because that was what was used in the original harness but heavier sizes are only fractionally more expensive.

Good question. I thought that $0.20/ft was a bit much (from the local $$$ electronics store). I checked the FAQ and found a retail friendly fastener supplier listed, but nothing for the wiring.

Seems like McMaster-Carr has reasonable prices on oil/coolant resistant 14 and 16 gauge wiring.

Check out this site. I have heard that Dave sells a great wiring harness.
