Heater Hoses to Heater Core 900 1993

I removed heater hoses from core for core removal and I didn't note what hose went to top/bottom of core. Does the hose with control valve go to top?

Thanks

the valve goes in the hose at the bottom and goes over to the short pipe coming out the cylinder head. the top hose goes to the red pipe behind the head that goes to the water pump.

Thanks...Hooked up the core and idled for about 15 minutes. Bottom hose got hot and top stayed cool (should it be)? I want to replace the heater valve as well but when looking at it with hoses on, there is no vacuum thingie with nipple. The previous owner did something and I don't know where to hook up the vacuum for the new valve. Would you know? I don't see a vacuum hose laying nearby to hook up to.

Thanks again....Bob

the vacuum line comes from inside the car through the firewall, i think on that model it is black hard plastic with short rubber connector where it attaches to the valve. if the vaccum nipple is missing from the diaphragm then you need to replace the valve. there are two types, the metal and plastic have a nipple in the center of the metal portion where the diaphragm is,it is recessed in the metal and hard to see, it does not stick out. if it is plastic it sticks out or is on top, ive seen two styles of all plastic ones.
