86 240 a/c charging question 200

I have an 86 volvo 240. The previous owner had a new a/c compressor put in, and had it changed over to 134A. I need to add some freon this summer as it is not as cold as last year, but I cannot find the low pressure side. The high pressure valve is really easy to see right by the dryer, however I cannot find the low pressure side fitting? Anyone know? I also checked on the compressor itself, and can not locate. HELP! Its getting HOT!. Thanks.

The guyys are right, compressor, driver's side. And that fitting by the drier is probably not the high side port. Don't open it.

On my 86 240 it is on the back of the compressor. If the PO used a R134a compressor then there may not be any ports on the back of the compressor. In which case you will need to follow the larger of the two hoses from the compressor back to the firewall. The Charge port should be along that hose. You may also have to remove the Glovebox on the inside of the car. When a new compressor I have seen a few times that someone put the new hose on "backwards". That puts the charge port under the dash.

Good Luck

Ken,

You need to go to the back of the compressor. That is where you will find the low side fitting.

If yours is like mine you will need to use an angled adapter to get around a bracket.

Good luck.
