I am considering using amsoil in my 83 240, and possibly my 96 Voyager, maybe even the wifes Cavalier! anyone have good experiences?

I have been using amsoil for 4 years now
2002 GMC Envoy
1993 Toyoya Landcruiser
1986 Volvo 240
2001 VW Beetle
1996 Dodge Truck/Diesel
I have not any leak problems in any of the veh's, and some have high mileage. Best thing is I change the oil every 20,000 miles, and the filters at 10,000 miles with a quart added.

Let me know if I can hook you up with a Brickboard deal. Lin below.

Volvo and Amsoil seem to be a good fit - used oil analysis seems to prove this out - got me hooked, that's for sure. My cars leak no oil, and even the 238K mile turbo uses very little oil.

Another biased opinion--have been running it in all my cars for 26 years now, without a single lubrication problem. Doesn't keep your kid from driving through a stop sign and getting T-boned, doesn't keep rocks from breaking windshields, doesn't keep you from being rear-ended. But sure lubricates well!

I switched my '86 240 (210,000 mi) and my '88 240 ( at about 110,000 mi) to Amsoil with no leak problems. The oil consumption in each car dropped to about 1qt in 6000 mi. No seal leaks in either car. Both run very well. I can't compare to another syn-oil like Mobil because I haven't tried them. Here is a link to a site where you can learn about folks experiences with lubricants until your eyes drop out.

Boy can I tell you good stories. First, though, there was a good article on the Mercedes list (passed on from a Porsche list, I think) that pointed out that the particular base chemical used in AmsOil and just a couple of other brands were inherently far superior to Mobil 1 products -- apparently, there are only three brands that use this particular stock, and one of them is only sold in Canada -- I can't remember the third, another US product. Wish I had the details, but I don't right now.
Anyway, I've used AmsOil in all my cars (almost all acquired with high miles) for almost thirty years (started in the mid '70's)! They've always performed beautifully with this oil:
1) no leaks (putting to rest that common "urban myth" about promoting leaks in older engines.
2) easy cold weather starting, and quick oil pressure.
3) easy to see that it really cleans up older engines inside -- valve train (when you look through the oil fill opening, seems to clean up (assuming the same throughout the rest of the engine).
4) most important, I'm convinced it really curtails engine wear -- my mechanic (an independent) tells me that my cars never seem to need valve lash adjustments (compared to his other customers' cars) -- although I have to take him on his word for this because I have nothing to compare.
Anyway, I love AmsOil oil and won't use anything else. Except for its price, there are no downsides to using it.
And I'm NOT an AmsOil dealer.

Lots of good experiences, but it would be considered a biased opinion, Iam a dealer, but I have also been using it in all kinds of vehicles/equipment for over 20 years.
