Air Control Valve Question(s) 200

Gentlemen,

How do you "clean" the air control valve? Is there anything I should know before jumping in? I am on a mission to clean the throtle body and replace the intake bellows fairly soon. Since I'll be working in the general area, I thought it might be prudent to clean the ACV. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. AS ALWAYS... Thanks, Jon

I'm not sure whether this is really a preventive maintenance issue or if it is best to just wait until you have symptoms. What I do is take off the hoses and spray a good deal of carburator cleaner inside of the holes, put my thumbs over the two holes, and shake it for a while. Dump out the carb cleaner and repeat.

Make sure you also service the flame trap and its related hoses while you're at it. See the FAQs for a more thorough description: http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineSealsBeltsVent.htm#Crankcase_Ventilation_%20A_Treatise

Hope this helps!
