Heater hose 88 volvo 740 turbo wagon 700

The heater hose on my 88 740 tubo wagon burst. Has anyone replaced this hose on the 740t before? I have read alot of past postings about this subject but most of the information was about the 200 series. I think its the input hose comming from the manifold to the fire wall. Do you have to take the manifold off to get to the hose fitting? Should I replace the heater control valve also? The local dealer hear said its about an hour job and the part would be $36.51. I found it online for $7.00

A lot easier to remove manifold (very easy) and replace the ECU temp sensor while your at it and remove and clean flame trap hoses/box

Don't have to take the manifold off , I would replace the heater valve
I didn't and 3 weeks after replacing the hoses ,guess what .
The valve is plastic and gets very brittle .

And the replacements are metal and much stronger!
www.fcpgroton.com carries them and should have the proper hose in stock as well.

Really? The FCP Groton heater valves for 700s are all metal? I thought they were reported on this board as a metal/plastic combo and kind of suspect. Any chance you're thinking of the valve for one of the 200s in your sig? I'd love to be able to get an all metal heater valve for my '89 744T...

Well, I think this is the one they sell. NOt sure if the picture is current but it's the one shown on www.foreigncarpartsonline.com
I've always been told it's much sturdier than the factory valve.

Got one just like that from FCP a few weeks ago. Looks, feels sturdy. FWIW, the old one I took out looked just like that, too... maybe replaced by PO at some point. The MTC heater hoses I got from FCP were also good quality.
