Whether you make your own or borrow one, make sure you lubricate the threads on the big bolt. I didn't on mine and the threads seized pretty badly. I had to cut off the offending threads and the thus-shortened bolt was barely long enough to finish the job. Depending on how soon you need it, you could use mine but you'd have to get a new bolt (the long, Grade 8, 1/2-20 guy).

You can get the grade 8 1/2-10 threaded rod in a Lowes store. A 2 ft section was something like $5, and use 2 big grade 8 nuts to lock the shaft. If you mess up the threads, you just cut another piece off.
I made my whole tool for $13 in 2" water pipe plumbing parts. Did it before I read others threads here, and withn a little inginuity, it came out fine in about 2 hrs work. The only laborioud part was grinding the inside threads out of the 2" pipe union with a dremel tool. The rest was a breeze.

Since you know you want to change the bushings you should start soaking the old ones with PB Blaster or Kroil now. Don't use anything else as a penetrant, take the time to get the good stuff. It will save you much aggravation when pulling the old bushings out.

Where are you located?

Randy

The website is:

I'd loan you mine, but a jerk in Seattle by the name of Johnny Chan never returned it.

If you have any questions about building it, contact me. Good luck.

Perhaps you should look into sending someone over to Johnny's house and asking him to please return the tool. I'm thinking you could probably find someone to do that just for the sport involved. Nothing like a dozen Harley's pulling up in front of Johnny's house to get his attention. Of course I am not advocating violence here as I don't think it would be necessary. Sorry you ran into an ass like Johnny Chan. You got an address?

Randy

Yeah, I've got an address, but I don't think it would be appropriate to broadcast it on the internet. Idiots like him eventually get their due. I'll have to live with that. Thanks Randy.
