Flame arrester 200

I am stumped. I am unable to locate the hose that contains the flame arrester element on my 1990 wagon (B230 engine). Can anyone tell me which hose is the right one?
Thanks

Flame arrester 200

It's at the intake manifold, between intake runner for #3 and #4 cylinder. This car should have the flame trap up high where you can see it. It's a cylindrical black plastic holder, with a fat tube on the bottom, a slightly smaller one on top, and a very small vacuum line that runs to the intake manifold. They're so cheap, even from Volvo, that it's really not worth your time trying to take it apart and clean it. Just throw it out every 30K or so.
Here's what it looks like:

Here's how I found it on my 1988. Follow the big air hose into the throttle body. Just before it ends there, two large vacuum hoses are attached. The one closest to the firewall goes to the flame trap system.

That is a specially shaped hose, with a 90 degree turn and a larger opening where it comes down over the flame trap. Seldom clogs, unlike the smaller hose and the fitting on the intake manifold.

Good Luck,

Bob
