oil temp sensor 700

Can anyone tell me where the oil temp sensor is located on the engine of a 1988 780 with a V6. I have a wire hanging loose running along the cross member, its white with a red stripe but dont know what it goes to?? and the oil temp guage doesnt work...Any help would be appreciated!!! David

oil temp sensor 700

The oil tem sensor is essentially your oil pan drain plug. The sensor will have a single terminal spade type connector. When you change your oil, you will notice that the sensor has a 1.5" long probe that sticks into the oil.

Well I have a drain plug and thats it...teh PO must have replaced it! Ughhhh Thanks
