A wagon and sedan unit are similar, but read a different number of counts per mile. The number on the front of the instrument is different between a sedan and wagon- if you want to replace it you'll have to match up the number "K9800" or "K10042".
But!~!!! If the thing works part way, here's what I think happened:
A spring, clip, or bit of plastic came adrift inside the instrument cluster, and it wedged into the speedometer. It's just preventing the needle from making it's normal travel. I bet you can remove the cluster, just turn it upside down and shake, and a loose *something* will fall out. Afterwards, the speedometer will work normally.
I saw this exact failure on a 1993 wagon once that received extensive in-dash work. Somebody lost a little spring in the cluster... everyone was scratching their head for a while.
The good news is, your odometer still works. That means basically everything's still functional and you simply need to pull it out and clear whatever's blocking the needle.
Good luck!
