I just purchased some hydr engine mounts and was wondering if i lift the engine to install these mounts will anything happen to the tranny or disrupt any other part or component

I just recently did this job and didn't have any problems with the clearance. The only problems I had were in reaching some of the bolts on the drivers side mount. BTW I used the 2x6 tool from the FAQs and jacked up the engine from the top.

I love telling my friends that I had to go to home depot to get the tools necessary to fix my volvo....they get a kick out of it too.

Did my 91 a year ago. In order to get the clearance I needed, I had to remove the fan shroud. Don't know if the same obstacle exists in the 89.

Just watch the clearance of the distributor cap to the firewall. No other issues.
