Back after a hiatus, looking for a mechanic in NYC 200 1991

I started driving a 1978 242, then owned a 1981 245 and a 1986 745 GLE. After a brief detour to a Porsche Boxster (gasp!), I am now back in a nice 1991 Burgundy 240 sedan with 120k. Whew!

I plan on posting a couple questions that are emerging with this car, and probably purchasing a few of the books out there. But right now, the most valuable information I could use is a recommendation on a service shop in Manhattan. The Volvo dealer seems to only vaguely recall that 200's still exist.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Avoid Martin Manhattan! 200 1991

My cat knows more about 240's than Martin...
Also Nemet and Bay Ridge Volvo.

I'll ask around and see what I can find for ya.

I know of a mechanic named Wes Henderson in lower manhattan. He is very good with American as well as foriegn cars, used to work for Rolls Royce. He also has a collection of cars including a 262c,MG,Bently, etc.The only quirk is he is only open in the afternoon til late evenings,no morning hours! His cell number is 347-992-4305. Very Honest person. Tell him you were referred by Nelson. Good luck.
Nelson

Welcome back!

As Invar said, good luck in Manhattan...

I can recommend a Volvo-only guy in Clifton, NJ... pretty convenient from Lincoln Tunnel or GWB, and they'll put you on/fetch you from a bus from Port Authority:

Rawbear Performance
973-478-6586

The guy (Robert) is a little eccentric, but he knows what a 240 is! I've had a great experience so far & rates are very reasonable.

YIPES!!! the big city.

For little misc. problems, take a ride out East on Long Island and we can tinker with it.

Finding a place IN Manhattan is going to be ridiculously difficult. Hope you're willing to travel out into the other boroughs.

The place I go to is in Queens (Flushing) and is called Pace Auto. Proprietor is named Jack. 718-886-2550 They're not Volvo specialists, but they deal with a lot of different vehicles. It's a Chinese auto place.
