Can you replace the Lights behind the inst. gauges??? 700

my lights shine fine through the insturment panel on my 740t but i was wondering if there is a way to get to those lights and maybe change the color of the bulb so that its more colorful back there. My aiwa cd player looks so cool in red and i just wanted my instrument panel to match it. Sorta if you guys have ever seen the inside of a newer VW, this panel lights up a really neat purple - - - -- - thanks.... brian

If you want to get to them, there is a dummy switch you can pop out.

You should be able to pop out the other switches as needed to get at the bulbs behind them by sticking your finger through the dummy switch hole and carefully pushing the tab on the side of the switches in with your finger so that they slide out naturally. Then I think you will see the bulbs back there as well.

If you do replace them make sure you use the same spec bulb. If a bulb runs too hot it will distort the plastic surround.

Yes you can. Paint the bulbs with fingernail polish.
