'87 740 GLE Question 700 1987

Greetings Folks

Just a quick question. I've read in the FAQ that the GLEs have an interference type of motor. I might get an opportunity to purchase a well cared for '87 740GLE. I checked the VIN number for the motor type and it's a B230F. Is this motor an interference type, too?

Thanks.

Cisco:

Up through '88, the GLE designation only indicated a trim package. In later years (I believe it started with the '89s) the 740GLEs and 940GLEs were all 16-valve interference models (B234). So you've got the 8-valve non-interference engine (B230).

B230F is not. B234F is.
